John and his team completed a fabulous piece of work on renovating our London home. Since we were moving the family from Switzerland back to London I found John through the tradesmens directory and would thoroughly recommend him to anyone requiring a quality job particularly carpentry which is his speciality. John spent time on the phone to Switzerland with me to work though the requirements and came back with quotation to deliver a new bathroom, strip and laqcuer old boards, build shelving units for the sitting room, make brilliant fitted wardrobes for 2 bedrooms, redecorate the exterior and tidy up the kitchen. John and team delivered a superb finish and was absolutely in control of all aspects of the job and was obsessive about ensuring all the details were completed to my satisfaction. A great job John!

In 2007, John Rae and his team designed, built, and decorated a set of floating bookshelves and lattice-door cupboards for alcoves either side of my living room fireplace. The alcoves are asymmetrical, but Mr Rae immediately came up with a suitable, attractive, and practical design, which has won many admiring comments. The work was carried out quickly and efficiently, according to the agreed schedule and budget. I should be more than happy to recommend Rae Services for quality of both design and build, and for their straightforward and friendly handling of the business.

I thought your service and level craftsmanship was exceptionally good. You came up with great creative and practical ideas of how to cover our existing chimney breast and cover it with a smooth and professionally looking false wall. The purpose built cupboards are great and very practical.

John and his team did a great job building and fitting our wardrobe. They provided good advice on design styles as well as practical build issues. There was a minimum of fuss when they came in to fit the wardrobe and they were very friendly and reliable – they did everything exactly when they said they would. Since living in London, we've not had many good experiences with tradesmen, so it was so refreshing to deal with someone who always turned up on time (usually early actually!) and when they said you would. You came to estimate promptly and we were comforted by your professionalism with regard to the paperwork side of things - it instilled us with confidence as we hate it when people cut corners. You got on with the job when we were both out at work even though we would normally 'test strangers' out at the beginning by making sure one of us was at home. With you we didn't feel the need.
You and your team finished the job quickly and with the minimum of disruption and for that we are very grateful.
I've already recommended you to a colleague at work and will continue to do so. Although your quote wasn't the cheapest by any means, we felt that the quality of the work was well worth the investment. We both feel that 'you get what you pay for' in this life and I'm thoroughly glad that we decided to go with you at a time when we can't really afford it. The end result is fantastic and I know we won't regret it.

John Rae Carpentry carried out extensive work to my home during 2004. He designed, built and fitted office, wardrobe and shelf units and all are of the highest quality and look fantastic. John gave a advance quote for the work which he stuck to and the actual work on site was completed with the minimum disruption because most of the units are made off site. He came when he said he would and finished when he said he would. I have no hesitation in recommending his company.

Jonathan Rae made a built-in kitchen cabinet that had been architect-designed for us. It included three tall-touch open cupboards and end bookcase above a Conran-esque wine rack. It was sturdily and beautifully made.
